Found phone
I would like to share a demonstration that I had as a result of Elise Moore’s Lecture titled “God is speaking to you”. She outlined a very simple 4 step process to prayer: 1. tune out the “static”, 2. tune into God, 3. Listen, and 4. Obey. Her examples were powerful and impressed on all four points equally. I shared this in my Sunday School class the next day and we discussed extensively how this simple outline makes prayer effective. The following Sunday, I was riding my horse along with my sister. We had ridden over approximately 60 acres of field and an old citrus grove for over an hour. We both had our cell phones in cases clipped to our jeans. I had stopped to wait for her and when she pulled up, she exclaimed that her cell phone was gone. The brown leather case it was in had fallen off of her. She then asked me to call her phone so that we could hear it ringing and help in locating it. Well, the phone had turned itself off when it fell! At that point I shut out all of the “static” and “yea-buts”. I became very quiet and asked God to direct me as to where to begin. Immediately I heard turn your horse around and look down. As I obeyed, turned my horse around and lowered my eyes to the ground they fell upon the brown leather case holding the cell phone. I expressed my gratitude and then called out to my sister who had taken off to search. When she arrived back, I allowed her to get off her horse, he is a lot shorter and easier to mount, and retrieve her phone. It was very difficult for her to see it as it blended into the dirt. This was a wonderful demonstration, as it was proof positive that “God is always speaking to us, we just need to listen”.
