Healed of back pain
Sunday night I was restless because I couldn’t find a comfortable position to sleep. The pain in my side and back had been going on for several days and steadily grew worse. When I got out of bed in the morning I could barely walk and wondered how I would be able to bowl six games. During the week I felt overwhelmed with many activities both for the lecture and with company at home.
That morning I really appreciated many ideas from the Bible Lesson and from the Curing the Incurable lecture. Elise talked about using Bible stories as a way to pray. The story of Elijah fleeing from Queen Jezebel and feeling overwhelmed because he was the last prophet reminded me that I didn’t have to feel weary and responsible for everything. God is the power that strengthens and energizes me. Nothing is too hard for God, and as his expression, no mortal power could destroy or deplete my ability to perform. Also, I held to the idea that I was one with God and nothing could separate me from Her. I declared vehemently that I wasn’t made of parts–arms, legs, back, etc. I knew that God never created anything painful. I began to “feel the divine energy of Spirit, bringing [me] into newness of life” (S&H, p. 249), and I was able to move freely without pain or distress.
These ideas filled my thought as I prepared for bowling. After a few practice balls I knew I was healed. I bowled six games and had tremendous success–first 3 games ended with a 517 series and 210 game–my best score in a long time!
I am so grateful for the wonderful ideas shared about praying and continue to use them.
